About

FLUMPKINS is a blog about crafting. More specifically, crochet and knitting. There's a heavy focus on more modern fashion pieces and geek culture since that is primarily what I create. :P I also dabble in some Asian crafts such as amigurumi, origami, and kumihimo. Some sewing may pop-up, but truth be told I'm not the best seamstress, so beware. ;) In the future I want to look more into technology crafts with LEDs and incorporating Arduino circuit boards. :D

What does FLUMPKINS mean?

It's a word I made up one day while having a conversation with my boyfriend that basically means more of something than you can even fathom. I won't go into the specifics as that could cause eyes to roll and gag reflexes. XD I'll just say we were one upping each other with amounts. 1... 2... 3... 50... 1,000,000... infinity... flumpkins! :P

Who are you?

My name is Marie and I'm a geeky (sometimes strange) 20-something living in the land of the Great White North. I've been pretty crafty ever since I was a kid. I remember spending hours making friendship bracelets trying to make each one unique in design and colour. I had this need to want to find more things to create in various ways. Nowadays, I stick mostly with crochet and knitting. But there is much more I want to discover and try!

As much as I love crafting I also love to geek out. Whether it's downloading MORE games from Steam, discussing about Whedonverse or thinking ahead about what to pack in my zombie survival kit. It's no wonder that one day my interests would collide. :P I draw a lot of inspiration from geek culture and hope to share my creations here. ^^
